SICILY ON THE StrEAT – FOOD AND CULTURE


Day 1:

Street Food and Palermo walking tour

In the morning walking tour through the old squares and street markets of the city center. The itinerary includes several stops at bakeries, street vendors and old inns to taste the delicious street food of Palermo and a selection of Sicilian sweet wines. Along the walking tour you will enter places hung out only by real Sicilians.

The afternoon will be dedicated to a guided tour of the capital of Sicily, Palermo. A cosmopolitan city, where they live in harmony a mosaic of cultures which make the town a mystical and exotic at the same time. Our tour begins in the center with a visit to the Palace of the Normans and its superb Palatine Chapel, the Cathedral of Palermo, the Quattro Canti.

During this tour you will also have the possibility to visit one of the most advanced olive oil producers on the international scene.

                                                                                 

Day 3:

The Western Sicily Tour: Erice  - Trapani - Marsala – Palermo

Head today to the western corner of Sicily dominating the Mediterranean.

Erice is an unforgettable medieval hill town, close to the port city of Trapani on the island's western coast. The sober historic town is surrounded by defensive town walls, crowned by a castle, and dominates the surrounding area from its mountainous height of approximately 800 meters above sea level.

You will have the possibility to taste the famous “cannolo” in a place that is considered today the center of the tradition of Erice.

Along the road that runs from Trapani to Paceco and Marsala it is possible to see numerous dazzlingly white mountains shimmering in the sun. You will have the possibility of  visiting a famous Salt Museum.

Lunch in a local restaurant where cannot miss to taste the Cous Cous, famous in this area because of the Arab influence.

On the western-most tip of the island of Sicily: Marsala a seaport city best known as the source of Marsala wine.

You will visit a local winery and  taste the Marsala wine.

Dinner in a local restaurant. Don’t miss “pasta with sarde” or “pasta alla Norma”.

 

Day 4:

Breakfast in the Hotel and check out.

Wind Nature Tour: Etna adventure + Wine Tasting

Mt Etna Volcano is one of the world's largest and most active volcanoes, considered a World Heritage Site. Mt Etna is one of the greatest and beautiful adventure tour destinations in Sicily. This volcano has more than 400 craters split all over the Catania county. To the ancient Greeks, Mount Etna was the realm of Vulcan, god of fire, and the home of the one-eyed monster known as the Cyclops. The Mount Etna region it's also famous for the high quality of its wines. Enjoy a wine tasting and light lunch with local products. Then you will proceed on the way to Taormina.

 

 

Day 5:

Cooking Class and guided tour of Taormina

In the morning you will live the experience of a cooking class.

Sicilian cuisine is well known for its perfumes and fragrances, is also considered without doubt one of the most famous in the world. You will cook some of the most traditional dishes directly in "cucina" with the help of a personal Chef.

After the cooking course you will enjoy what you have cooked

In the afternoon a walking tour the beautiful town of Taormina. The downtown centre represents a variety of historical periods, from the early Greek settlements and the Roman age, to the remains of Byzantine and Medieval constructions up to the 15th Century Catalan buildings and 17th Century Baroque churches and Palaces. Not to miss is a visit to the Greek Theatre and a stroll down the main street "Corso Umberto" with its art and designers’ shops, Baroque churches.

 

Day 6:

Breakfast in the hotel in Taormina

Cheese and Chocolate Tasting

Discover the most genuine products of Sicily’s enogastronomy: cheese and chocolate.

Enjoy a visit to a local Cheese Factory. You will have the opportunity to see the process of cheese making, and taste different products.

Light lunch in a farmhouse where you can taste local products.

After lunch, proceed to Modica to visit a chocolate Factory. Through a magic travel you will discover the ancient Aztec recipe.

Farewell dinner in a local restaurant in Taormina.
