This tour includes some monuments, palaces and churches in one of the ancient but richest area of the town. The famous Jewish Ghetto, the first in Europe. “Ghetto” is in fact a Venetian word meaning “foundry” because the Jewish quarter was built replacing a foundry. This name now means “Jewish District” all over the world. Here you can join a visit of the Jewish Synagogues with a specialized guide.

Day 3: Venice

Day 5: Padua

Padua: the “Taming of the Shrew” setting (10 hrs)

A daily excursion to visit Padua, the setting of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew”, written around 1590, was one of his first plays set in Italy. The best way to experience Shakespeare’s Padua is by having a guided tour and stroll around the university. In Shakespeare’s time the University of Padua was one of the first in the world and the city was very well known as a center of learning throughout Europe. You will enjoy a full day guided tour through the University, the Basilica of St. Anthony and you will have time to enter the Scrovegni Chapel (advance booking is strongly suggested).

Day 6: Mantua
