This tour is designed to give you an in depth understanding of the history of Rome. History defined by its emperors, its popes and the artists that made Rome the eternal city!

 

Day 1 :

Private transfer from Fiumicino Airport to Hotel in Rome

Rest of the day at leisure to familiarize with the eternal city.

Explore the most important sights of Ancient Rome - the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill with skip the line access. First, visit Rome’s most iconic site, the Colosseum, with your guide who will talk you through the bloody past of the amphitheater, home to gladiators, mock sea-battles and executions. Then, head to the Roman Forum to walk along the “Via Sacra” or “Sacred Way” – the main path through the Roman Forum, which once sparkled with festivals and triumphal processions as Roman armies returned from war. Finally, see the Palatine Hill, the most famous of the Seven Hills of Rome. From here, admire the views of the Roman Forum and Nero’s Circus Maximus where chariot races were once held.

Private Ostia Antica Tour

In the morning visit to Ostia Antica. This tour will show the everyday life of ordinary people in ancient roman times. The Harbor city of Ancient Ostia lies at the mouth of the river Tiber. It was founded as the very first colony of Rome in the 6th century BC and was completely abandoned in the 6th century AD. Then malaria became endemic in the area and the city, whose population may have been nearly 100,000 at its peak, was totally abandoned. Buried for centuries by sand, the city is remarkably well preserved. Its buildings, blocks, villas, thermal baths, temples of all religions, restaurants, public toilets told us the story of common people day-life in roman age.

Private Christian Rome: St. Paul’s Basilica, Catacombs and Old Appian Way

The second largest Church of Rome that always amazes with its silence, spiritual atmosphere and astonishing beauty, the Old Appian way just outside the city walls where the landscape is still as green as in ancient times, the underground tunnels of the first Christian cemeteries, the Catacombs, will bring us to an old past in a quiet and spiritual state of mind... Dress Code: Entrance into the Basilica's require a strict dress code. Shoulders and knees must be covered, no low cut or sleeveless tops or shorts for both men and women. Clients that do not adhere to the dress code may not be permitted entry to the Basilica's or the Vatican Museums. Our company will not be held responsible for entry denied due to improper dress.

Private Tivoli tour

A private guided excursion to the ancient village of Tivoli to see its main attractions including Villa D'Este, a masterpiece of the Italian Garden and one of the UNESCO world heritage sites. With its impressive concentration of fountains, nymphs, grottoes, plays of water, and music, it constitutes a great example of the European gardens in the mannerist and baroque styles.

Private  Vatican Museums - Skip the Line Access

The tour will start skipping the line at the Vatican Museums, one of the largest museum complexes in the world. Located in the grand and magnificent Vatican Palaces, there are over 7 kilometers of galleries to be seen. They display works from the immense collection built up by the Roman Catholic Church throughout the centuries, including some of the most renowned classical sculptures and most important masterpieces of Renaissance art in the world. The galleries will lead you to the breath taking Sistine Chapel, famous for its architecture and its decoration that was frescoed throughout by Renaissance  artists including Michelangelo, Sandro Botticelli, Pietro Perugino, Pinturicchio and others.
