Day 3: Palermo

The Western Sicily Tour: Erice  - Trapani - Marsala – Palermo

Head today to the western corner of Sicily dominating the Mediterranean.

Erice is an unforgettable medieval hill town, close to the port city of Trapani on the island's western coast. The  historic town is surrounded by defensive town walls, crowned by a castle, and dominated by  mountains approximately 800 meters above sea level. You will have the possibility to taste the famous “cannolo” in a place that is considered  the center of  Erice’s tradition of pastry making.

Along the road that runs from Trapani to Paceco and Marsala it is possible to see numerous dazzlingly white mountains shimmering in the sun. You will be able to visit a famous Salt Museum.

Lunch will follow in a local restaurant where you should not miss  the Cous Cous, famous in this area because of the Arab influence. On the westernmost tip of the island of Sicily is Marsala, a seaport city best known as the source of Marsala wine. You will visit a local winery for a taste of the Marsala.

Dinner in a local restaurant. Don’t miss the “pasta with sarde” or “pasta alla Norma.”

Day 4: Taormina

Etna was the realm of Vulcan, god of fire, and the home of the one-eyed monster known as the Cyclops. The M. Etna region is also famous for the high quality of its wines. Enjoy a wine tasting and light lunch with local products. Then you will proceed  to Taormina.

Day 5: Taormina

Cooking Class and guided tour of Taormina

In the morning you  experience  a cooking class. Sicilian cuisine is well known for its aromas and fragrances and is also  without doubt one of the most famous in the world. You will cook some of the most traditional dishes directly in the "cucina" with the help of a personal chef.

After the cooking class you will enjoy what you have prepared.

An afternoon walking tour of the beautiful town of Taormina will follow. The downtown center represents a variety of historical periods, from  early Greek and Roman settlements , to the remains of Byzantine and medieval constructions up to  15th century  buildings and 17th century Baroque churches and palaces. Not to be missed is a visit to the Greek Theatre and a stroll down the main street, "Corso Umberto," with its art and design shops as well as Baroque churches.

Day 6: Taormina

Cheese and Chocolate Tasting

Discover the most genuine products of Sicily’s enogastronomy: cheese and chocolate.

Enjoy a visit to a local cheese factory. You will have the opportunity to see the process of cheese making and taste different products.

Enjoy a light lunch in a farmhouse where you will also taste local products.

After lunch, proceed to Modica to visit a chocolate factory. There through the magic of travel you will discover the ancient Aztec recipe.

A farewell dinner in a local restaurant in Taormina will complete the experience.
