The Hotel Miramalfi, which took five years to build, was the realisation of the Mansi family's dream. The project was begun by Francesco Mansi, assisted by his son Mario who later, with his wife Emma, took over management of the hotel. The hotel opened in the spring of 1956. The name was chosen by the family patriarch Francesco who, when he returned to Amalfi after many years in Mexico , achieved a lifelong ambition: to live on the seaside and, everyday, to be able to enjoy a unique view of his hometown. When construction was completed, Francesco, standing on the restaurant's terrace, exclaimed emotionally: "Mira.Amalfi!" ("Look...Amalfi!"). The hotel is still run by Signora Emma Cimmino Mansi and her children, Raffaella and Francesco.
