PRIVATE - CARLOFORTE AND THE ISLAND OF SAN PIETRO

In the South-Western part of Sardinia is the archipelago of Sulcis, with the two small islands of Sant’Antioco and San Pietro. During our tour, that will leave from Cagliari, we will land by ferry in the town of Carloforte, a small fishing village that hosts a community of tabarkini, fishermen of Ligurian origin who moved to the Tunisian island of Tabarka in 1542. In 1738 they obtained the permission to colonize the island from Carlo Emanuele III and thus Carloforte was born. There we could stroll through its alleys and breathe its past, discover the history of its community, linked for centuries to the activities of the saltworks and tuna fisheries and taste, during free time, one of the typical dishes, which blend the different origins of this peculiar community: the Ligurian, the Tunisian and the Sardinian ones. After the walking tour, there will be time for a panoramic tour of the island, which will allow us to admire some of its most beautiful beaches, up to the Capo Sandalo lighthouse, not far from the Lipu natural Oasis, where every summer Eleonora's falcon nests.
