Private - From the birth of Rome to Michelangelo: Capitol Hill and Capitolini Museums
Welcome to one of the most elegant public spaces in Rome: the Capitoline Hill, center of ancient Rome religious and political power and Michelangelo’s first urbanistic project of Renaissance Rome with its marvelous plaza and its 16th century buildings open as the Capitolini Museums.
This piazza overlooking the Roman Forum includes an open square, three Renaissance palace museums and a monumental staircase.
The square’s three palazzi house the Capitoline Museums (Musei Capitolini), considered the world’s first public museum.
The vast collections include classical sculpture, Renaissance paintings, and archaeological finds.
Your private and passionate guide will lead you through amazingly decorated rooms, paintings and statues, like the famous she-wolf “Lupa Capitolina”, or the equestrian statue of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, until the 21 centuries old Tabularium gallery and its unforgettable view into the ancient Roman Forum
