THE GOLD OF AMALFI COAST: A UNIQUE LEMON EXPERIENCE WITH AMALFI GUIDED TOUR
We all know that the Amalfi Coast is all about lemons starting from the iconic liqueur "Limoncello" to the delicious lemon cake "Delizia al Limone" but with this exclusive experience you will have the privilege of spending a day with the family who has brought the "Amalfi lemon" to be known and appreciated all over the world.
You will be able to walk the terraces set on the slopes seen in every photo of the coast, which the work of the farmers has carved over the centuries making it unique in the world and learn everything about the Sfusato Amalfitano, which arrived centuries ago from the East and now boasts the recognition of European Protected Geographical Indication.
With this unique experience, you will have the opportunity to feel and savor the true essence of the Amalfi Coast by discovering the stages of production: from cultivation to tasting the delicacies produced on the farm.
It will be a fascinating journey led by the inhabitants and workers in love with this land, who for 6 generations have been cultivating, protecting and enhancing the world with passion and dedication.
After the "Lemon Experience" you will meet your local guide to begin the discovery of the charming town of Amalfi.
While walking towards the center of Amalfi, you will stop at the “Paper Museum”, a unique museum housed in an ancient paper mill, where you will learn how paper was made from rags. During the fifteenth century the Amalfi paper was so popular that many foreign authors asked to be published in Naples only to be able to use the coveted material. This craft tradition continues today, and exquisite handmade paper is available for purchase.
Exploring Amalfi with your guide you will soon understand how this small town was once the capital of a powerful maritime republic: towers, walls, vaulted houses, ancient churches, chapels and convents, testify, with its rich medieval merchant houses of the aristocracy, the historical past of Amalfi.
You will visit the extraordinarily beautiful Cathedral of Sant'Andrea (or Duomo) in Arab-Sicilian style dedicated to Sant'Andrea, the apostle and patron of Amalfi whose relics are kept here. And then you will have free time to sit in an outdoor bar and maybe try a Delizia al Limone, a sponge cake soaked in limoncello and lemon custard, or a slice of Pastiera, a ricotta-based cake and ground wheat that has been soaked for several days in running water. A perfect end to a great day!
