The highlights of Turin
The walk starts from Castle Square, the heart of the city, at the center of which stands the two-thousand-year-old Madama Palace. Facing the square are the Royal Palace, the Regio Theater, and the splendid church of San Lorenzo. In the immediate vicinity, you can find the Cathedral, the Shroud Chapel, and the Roman archaeological park with the Palatine Gate. In San Lorenzo or in the Cathedral, you can view a photographic copy of the Holy Shroud.
Strolling along the airy arcades of Via Roma, you reach the seventeenth-century San Carlo Square, the city's drawing room; you continue to Carignano Square with the imposing palace designed by Guarino Guarini. Passing through the elegant Carlo Alberto Square, you cross the Galleria dell’Industria Subalpina, adorned with historic shops and cafes.
The panoramic tour continues with your coach through Via Po and Vittorio Veneto Square, from where you can admire the hills of Turin, the Po River, the magnificent Basilica of Superga, the neoclassical church of Gran Madre di Dio, and the Monte dei Cappuccini, a panoramic viewpoint over the city and the Alps mountain range. Then, you arrive at Valentino Park with its seventeenth-century castle and the charming Medieval Village.
