Pompeii & Vesuvius – A Journey between history, geology and Nature with wine tasting

This private tour is a 360° experience designed for those who wish to fully immerse themselves in the extraordinary history of ancient Pompeii, the vibrant and rich port city tragically struck by the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 BC, to discover one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world and enjoy the goodness of the food and wine of this land.

Comfortably seated in your deluxe private car you will reach the Archaeological Park of Pompeii to embark on a journey to discover the Ancient Roman Empire: accompanied by your local expert you will admire all the fascinating structures of the Roman world such as the main square or the forum, the baths, the theaters, villas with remains of Roman frescoes, the attraction of spectacular plaster casts containing bones of Pompeiians who died during the disaster.

Then it will be time to head to the origin of everything you've just seen: the Mt. Vesuvius.

Vesuvius dominates the Gulf of Naples and is the only active volcano on mainland Europe, its slopes are still covered in vineyards and woods and provides that innocent-looking backdrop to the bustling city below that deceived the inhabitants of ancient Pompeii.

Vesuvius wines were awarded the DOC recognition  in 1983 and have since been much loved and appreciated all over the world, which is why you cannot miss the experience of a wine tasting and lunch in one of the oldest family-run wine estate on the slopes of the volcano : the Sorrentino Winery.

Welcomed by family members you will have the opportunity to taste some of the greatest Italian wines accompanied by an excellent home-made lunch prepared with ingredients directly picked in  the family's organic garden.

After lunch time it will be time to finally reach the top of the Volcano;  your expert driver will take you to the closest point reachable by car, here you will be almost 1,000 meters from the top of Vesuvius and you can start your walk to the top to admire the beautiful panorama view of the bay. A single plume of smoke rises from the blackened crater, a reminder that the volcano is only sleeping for now.
