Private - Gourmet Florence: private culinary experience

In Florence everything around you speaks of art, history and famous people. What else do you miss? Local food. The intention of our gourmet walking tour is to make you feel “Florentine” through the visit of some historical Cafè and food store.

We'll start with CAFFE’ GILLI, in Piazza Rebubblica. Founded in 1735, elegant, refined with a sort of “Old England” atmosphere still has the original furnishing. (specialità: cioccolata calda, budino di riso, schiacciata con l'uva in stagione, scorzette arancia/limone ricoperte di cioccolato, dolcetti) Just around the corner from the Duomo we find PEGNA, founded 150 years ago as GROCERY SHOP, it's a Florentine style, elegant, refined and at the same time offers an infinite choice of cheese, cold cuts of cured meat, wine, coffee, tea, chocolate, spices. For an aperitivo we'll go at PROCACCI, an historical “bottega” in the prestigious and elegant Via Tornabuoni. Founded in 1880, nothing has changed since then. Famous for its truffle specialties, we'll have a “panino tartufato“ and a cup of prosecco as apertivo. As an alternative the Cantinetta Da Verrazzano in Via de' Tavolini a local which focuses on Chianti specialties from the homonymous farm and its own oven, standing 15 feet high. (specialità: pastries and rustic biscuits, pane di vino con sbriciolona (fennel-seeds salami), cecina (chickpeas focaccia), chestnut cake in season) At almost lunchtime, we'll finish at San Lorenzo indoor food market. On the ground floor hundreds of all type of food stores, butchers, fruit, bakery, spices, winery. On the second floor, there are restaurants that satisfy even the most demanding food-lover.
