Private - Mysteries of the Borgias
At the death of Innocent VIII (1492), following a 5 days conclave, the cardinals appointed as a new Pope the catalan Rodrigo Borgia (Borja), who gave himself the name of Alexander VI. During his papacy (1492-1503), Alexander and his sons Cesar and Lucretia were suspected of many crimes including adultery, simony, bribery, heresy so as to create an air of decay and notoriety about the name “Borgia”.
Our walking Tour covers the sites of Early Renaissance Rome and goes through the stories of cardinals, diplomats, soldiers of fortune and “unfortunate lovers” linked to the saga of the Borgias.
