Scattered among boutique shops there is a wealth of Roman ruins, including Italy’s third-largest coliseum, now world-renowned for its acoustics and drawing some of the world’s top musicians. Medieval walls line the inner city, leading you to the outer edges, where you can admire sweeping hillsides lined with pastel buildings and romantic pathways.
